Evelyn M. Dlask, 93, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, at Crestview Acres in Marion. Celebration of Life gathering and a time for food and fellowship will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Burial will follow in Czech National Cemetery.
Evelyn was born Sept. 18, 1923, on the family farm near Ely, the daughter of Joseph and Tillie (Barta) Horak. She graduated from Wilson High School. Evelyn was united in marriage to George Dlask on Oct. 19, 1944, in Cedar Rapids. She worked at the Old Mill Ice Cream Shop, The Gazette, and at Linkbelt Speeder-FMC for over 25 years. While there she worked in the mailroom, accounting office, and was later appointed as salary administrator. Evelyn enjoyed working in the kitchen, baking, making kolaches, canning, gardening and spending time with her family, especially with her granddaughter, Melanie.
Evelyn is survived by her sons, Gary (Julie) Dlask of Cedar Falls and Charles Dlask of Cedar Rapids; her granddaughter, Melanie (Greg) Smith of Urbandale; a great-grandson, Benjamin Smith; and a brother, Milton (Dorie Jo) Horak of Waterloo.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George, who died April 7, 2013; and brothers, Vernon (Shirley) and Norbert (Lois) Horak.
Memorials may be directed to the Jefferson High School Band or to National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library.
