Evelyn A. Conklin, 92, a resident of Northbrook Manor, died there Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, after a brief illness. Services: 1 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Me-morial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Survivors include a son, Douglas (Debbie) of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Patricia Hartson of Cedar Rapids and Sharon Pritchard of Ramona, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grand-children; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two daughters, Sandra and Verla; an infant son, Harold Dean; two sons-in-law, Duane Rich and Gene Pritchard; and a sister, Ruby Miller.
Evelyn was born July 13, 1922, in Washington County, Iowa, the daughter of Charlie and Matilda Florang Bruegge. She married Eddie Verle Conklin on Aug. 28, 1938, in Memphis, Mo. He passed away in 1969. Evelyn worked at Merchants National Bank in the film department and retired from there after more than 34 years of service.
Evelyn enjoyed watching and feeding the birds, fishing and outings with her retired friends from Merchants National Bank. She loved gardening and sharing the bountiful produce with family and friends.
Evelyn was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial donations may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
