EVELYN BRECHT
Marengo
Evelyn H. Brecht, 98, of Marengo and Norway, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at her home. Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Norway United Methodist Church, Norway, Iowa, with Pastor Rose Marie Calderon Khan officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick and St. Paul Cemetery, Watkins. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at the church in Norway.
A memorial fund has been established.
Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by four children, Carol Hooper of Grants Pass, Ore., Donna Divishek (Jon) of Solon, Jim Brecht (Linda) of Marengo and Dennis Brecht of Marengo; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are her siblings, Herb Snell, Jack Snell and MaryLou Selzer; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Snell, Shirley Snell and Lorraine Snell; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary Vanous Snell; six brothers; three sisters; her husband, Melvin "Red" Brecht; and a daughter in infancy.
