Evelyn Marie Boland, 92, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Winslow House Care Center, Marion. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Thursday, March 6, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, by the Rev. Philip Thompson. Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to Mass time at the church on Thursday. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her sons, David (Beverly) Boland of Cedar Rapids and John (Joleen) Boland of Parkview, Iowa; three grandchildren, Emily (Stephen) Oppedahl, Christopher Boland and Sarah (Chad) Hughes; three great-grandchildren, Carley, Makenna and Samuel; and many nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was born Jan. 21, 1922, in Edgewood, Iowa, the daughter of William and Anna (Zeman) Pesek. On Oct. 19, 1944, she married Raymond E. Boland. He died in 2007.
Evelyn was a homemaker who treasured spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed working in her garden, fishing, bingo and playing cards.
Evelyn was a devoted member of St. Pius Catholic Church.
She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, Richard; and her siblings, Bill, Stanley and Monica.
