Eveard "Ev" N. Turley, 49, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday morning, March 7, 2016, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, following a brief illness. Funeral services:
10 a.m. Thursday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church by Deacon Jim Berger. Burial: St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 Second St. SE, Cedar Rapids.
Eveard is survived by his wife, Kim; children, Alicia (David) Brauer, Steven Turley, Kaitlin Turley and Kristen Turley, all of Cedar Rapids; grandson, Kael Brauer; mother, Joan Turley of Cedar Rapids; siblings, Don (Nora) Turley of Walford, Joe (fiancee Sheila Smith) Turley of Cedar Rapids, Alice (Dan) Dudley of Chesapeake, Va., Laura (Gene) Kloubec of Amana, Annette (Don) Hardin of Wapello and Tina Turley of West Amana; and brothers-in-law, Mike (Tami) Franck, Daniel Franck and Alan (Laura) Franck, all of Cedar Rapids. He also is survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Norman Turley; and a sister, Marylou Flint.
Eveard was born June 7, 1966, in Cedar Rapids, to Norman and Joan (Franc) Turley and was a lifelong resident. He was a 1984 graduate of Jefferson High School. Ev married his childhood sweetheart, Kim L. Franck, on May 24, 1986, at the Unity Center in Cedar Rapids. Ev was employed as a plant foreman at Diamond V Mills where he began working in January 1999.
He was a member of Teamsters Union Local 238. As a youth, Ev was a member of the Boy Scouts and played football in high school. He enjoyed fishing and camping and loved doing yard work. Ev was always willing to help anybody out in any way that he could. Above everything else, his family always came first and he adored his little grandson, Kael.
A memorial fund has been established.
