Evanson, Ruth Hildegarde
Ruth Hildegarde Evanson, 100, of The Meth-Wick Community in Cedar Rapids, died peacefully May 29, 2010. At her request there will be no memorial services. Inurnment: Chapel of Memories Mausoleum in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Hildegarde was born Feb. 21, 1910, in Quincy, Ill., to Elizor and Lillian Blackman Bucklew. She married Dr. Clifford Hendricks and had one son, Dr. Clifford Hendricks Jr. She married Howard Hicks Evanson in 1940. They moved from Gulfport, Fla., to Cedar Rapids in 1990.
Hildegarde was an elegant lady who always felt that family came first. She had traveled extensively and was a duplicate bridge Life Master. She was an avid reader and enjoyed entertaining. She was a member of PEO and First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids.
Those left to honor her memory are her son, Dr. Clifford Hendricks Jr., and his friend, Monti Hawkins, of Cedar Rapids; a stepdaughter, Marjorie (Doug) Smith of Rockford, Ill.; a daughter-in-law, Joanne Hendricks of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Deborah (Michael) O'Connell of Morgan Hill, Calif., Dr. Clifford (Jean) Hendricks III, and Kristin Hendricks, both of New Orleans, La.; and five great-grandchildren, Taylor, Michael Jr. and Cameron O'Connell, Evan Hendricks and Bennett Hendricks.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Evanson; two sisters, Edna Lohr and Ann Randall; and a brother, Harvey Bucklew.
The family wishes to express gratitude to The Meth-Wick Community for their kind and loving care of her.
