Evans, Ruth 'Jeanette'

Ruth “Jeanette” Evans, 82, of Marion, died Saturday, May 18, 2013. Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by the Rev. Tom Fogle. The family will greet friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Survivors include daughter, Julie Thie and her husband, Kevin, of Sperry, Iowa; her son, Jeffery Evans and his wife, Julie, of Guttenburg, Iowa; three grandchildren, Michael Evans of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Leslie Schulte of Panora, Iowa, and Brandi Evans of Studio City, Calif.; her brother, James Edwards and his wife, Patricia, of Apache Junction, Ariz.; and her dog, Sophie.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Jeanette was born Dec. 4, 1930, the daughter of Edwin “Wright” and Camille (Beggs) Edwards in Moberly, Mo. On July 15, 1951, she married George “Dick” R. Evans in Kirksville, Mo. He died Dec. 25, 1991. Jeanette graduated from Moberly Junior College and then received her teaching degree from Kirksville State Teachers College. She taught for 31 years, retiring in 1992 from the Alburnett Community School District. Jeanette had a wonderful group of friends whom she adored.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Jeanette's memory.
