Evans, LeAnn Rae
LeAnn Rae Evans, 43, of Columbus City, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following a brief illness. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. The Rev. Al Coffin will officiate. Casket bearers will be Matt Nahnsen, John Nahnsen, Craig Nahnsen, Kevin Mojarro, Tanner Davis and Scooter Evans. Burial will be in Columbus City Cemetery. Following the committal services there will be a time of food and fellowship at the Columbus Community Senior Center. Visitation will be Saturday at the funeral home from 1 to 3 p.m.
LeAnn Rae Evans was born Jan. 15, 1968, in Fort Carson, Colo., the daughter of Mark and Judy (Griswold) Shear. She moved to Columbus City with her parents in 1969 and graduated from Columbus High School in 1986. In 1987, LeAnn married Jeff Hollenbeck, and to this union two children were born. They were later divorced, and in 2000, she married Denny Evans. LeAnn was currently employed at Pearson in Iowa City.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, OES and the Columbus City United Methodist Church. LeAnn enjoyed reading, NASCAR racing, especially cheering for Jimmy Johnson and Dale Jarrett, collecting Boyd's bears, ‘Tweety' birds and listening to music.
LeAnn will be dearly missed by her husband, Denny of Columbus City; three daughters, Amber Hernandez, Leah Hollenbeck and Austie Hollenbeck; four grandchildren, Jose, Ivan and Cassie Hernandez and Landon Hollenbeck; two stepchildren, Katrina Sanderson-Evans and Shawn Evans; and her parents, Mark and Judy Shear of Columbus City.
LeAnn was preceded in death by her grandparents.
A memorial has been established at the funeral home in LeAnn's name.
