Evalyn Elizabeth Clark was born Aug. 8, 1920, on a farm near Hopkinton, Iowa. She was the daughter of Elliott Burnham and Deane Lewis Clark. Evalyn married Donald Flaherty on Nov. 8, 1941, at Kahoka, Mo. In early years, she worked at the Kellogg Company in Michigan, until she developed polio. While Don was fighting in World War II, she lived and worked in Cedar Rapids. After the surrender of Germany and Don's return from service, they moved to California. Evalyn worked at Miller Dial and Sears. After they retired, Evalyn and Don moved to Bellevue.
Evalyn loved visiting with her family and friends. She had a love of history and enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles and continued to do so until her passing. Evalyn and Donald were not blessed with children of their own, but loved and enjoyed each one who came into their lives. Evalyn wanted everyone who helped her to know how much she appreciated the care they gave her.
Surviving is her brother, Robert Clark of Cedar Rapids; and her many friends in Bellevue.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don in 2008; three brothers, Lavern, Jack and Thomas; two infant brothers; two sisters, Helen Cozart and Ester Logan; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Helen Clark, Evelyn Clark, Mary Clark, Gene Logan and William Cozart.
