Eva Jane Hoglan, 82, of Independence, formerly of Center Point, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family following a short illness on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at Buchanan County Health Center, Independence. Services: 11 a.m. Friday, June 12, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 11, at the funeral home. Burial: Center Point Cemetery, Center Point.
Survivors include her children, Aileen Stofer, Cheryl Holub (Mick Blackwell), Carol (Gary) Gibbs and Jon (Dawn) Hoglan; grandchildren, Lisa (Shane) Kula, Alex (Holly) Gibbs, Matthew Gibbs, Lucas Gibbs, Caitlyn Hoglan and Garret Hoglan; six great-grandchildren; and brother, Howard "Buzz" (Rozella) Wiegand.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack; brother, Arvel "Butch" Wiegand; and sons-in-law, Tony Holub and Kirk Stofer.
Eva Jane was born Nov. 23, 1932, in Belmond, Iowa, daughter of Ray and Della (Ruka) Wiegand. She married Jack Hoglan on March 5, 1953, at Camp Gordon, Ga. He passed May 6, 2009.
Eva Jane enjoyed playing cards, golfing, bowling, traveling and Scrabble, and loved her cats, Napper and Dapper.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Buchanan County Animal Shelter, 1935 Frost Ave., Independence, IA 50644.
