Eunice M. Jacobs, 99, of Marion, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 27, 2020, at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services will be held in the summer of 2021 near her 100th birthday. Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, is caring for Eunice and her family.
Survivors include her sons, John Weaver of Marion and Rick (Cindy) Weaver of St. Peters, Mo.; stepdaughter, Jeanne Thurston of Tulsa, Okla.; nine grandchildren and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Eunice was born June 3, 1921, in Monticello, Iowa, the daughter of Luther and Irene (Stambaugh) Howland. She graduated from Monticello High School in 1939, then attended beauty school. She married Vernon Crandall Weaver and they had three sons. They later divorced. In 1966, she married Emmett "Bud" Jacobs in Rock Island, Ill. He died in 1994.
For many years, Eunice operated a beauty salon in Hiawatha before going to work for Collins Radio, where she retired. She was a member of Kenwood Park United Methodist Church, Eagles, VFW Auxiliary, and the Royal Neighbors of America. Eunice loved everything about hummingbirds and enjoyed doing crafts, especially needlepoint.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, David Weaver; daughters-in-law, Pam Weaver and Judy Weaver; grandchildren, Diane Weaver and Steve Weaver; and great-great-grandson, Zayden James Weaver.
Memorials may be directed to the Witwer Healthy Aging Program in care of Aging Services or the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
