Eulah Mantz-Berstler, a resident of the English Valley Care Center, passed away Monday, Feb. 21, 2022. She was 94 years old.
Eulah Mae Huff was born April 25, 1927, in Dellvale, Kan., the daughter of Carl and Christine (Smith) Huff. She lived in a earthen dugout until she was nine, when her father moved the family to Iowa in a wagon pulled by a pair of mules. Upon arrival to Iowa, the family temporarily lived in a railroad boxcar near Parnell, Iowa. She married Harold W. Mantz on June 27, 1942, and they were blessed with three children: Wayne, Robert and Jeanne. After being widowed in 1992, she married Harold Berstler in 1995.
In her earlier years, Eulah was employed at various jobs, Amana Refrigeration, Amana Woolen Mills, Knipples Woodworking Shop, Rockwell Collins and Eulah Mantz Realty. She finished her career as a real estate broker.
Eulah was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Marengo, where she participated in St. John's Ladies Aid. She enjoyed dancing, gardening and growing flowers as hobbies.
Eulah is survived by her children, Robert (Sandy) Mantz and Jeanne Fratella; eight grandchildren, Wayne William Mantz, Stephan Mantz, Gary (Brandi) Mantz, Michael (Joanna) Mantz, Rob (Dawn) Mantz, Ryan (Becky) Mantz, Dennis Fratella and Scott (Tonya) Fratella; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, Carl and Christine Huff; her husbandm Harold W. Mantz; a son, Harold Wayne Mantz; husband, Harold Berstler; her sisters, Vernona Black, Margaret Davies and Ivalee Huff; and a brother, Chester Huff.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 25, at Kloster Funeral Home in Marengo. The funeral will follow immediately afterward and will be officiated by Pastor Andrew Noble. The graveside committal will follow after the funeral in the Marengo Cemetery.
