Eugene Engel, 99, of Washington, Iowa, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2014, at the Wash-ington County Hospital following a short illness. Celebration of Life services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at the Washington Mennonite Church with Amanda Beachy officiating. Visitation will begin at noon Friday, Oct. 17, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will take place at the Grace Hill Moravian Cemetery in rural Washington County, Iowa.
Memorials have been established for Gideon's International and for Hospice of Washington County.

Eugene is survived by daughter, Mary Martin and husband Harmon of Washington, Iowa; son, Frederick "Fritz" Engel and wife Sharon of Brighton; daughter, Christina Dyess and husband James of Houston, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
