Eugene Carl Christianson, 69, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Waterloo, died Saturday, April 30, 2016, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha.
He was born Oct. 13, 1946, in Waterloo, son of Carl and Evelyn Guetzloff Christianson.
Survivors include a sister, Carol James
of Cedar Rapids; a brother, James (Gayle) Christianson of Waterloo; a nephew, Charles (Tina) James of Olin; four nieces, Lisa James of Cedar Rapids and Robin Romero, Melissa Christianson and Kim Williams; two great-nephews, Justin James of Pella and Jonathan (Mandy) James of Oxford; a great-niece, Kayla (Chris) Orr of Cedar Rapids; a great-great-nephew, Gabriel James; and an aunt, Dorothy Guetzloff of Waterloo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Patricia Christianson; and a niece, Lori James.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 5, at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service, 300 W. Ridgeway, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Public visitation will be for an hour before services.

Eugene enjoyed playing basketball in the Special Olympics, going to the Cedar Rapids Kernels baseball games and gardening. He especially loved his nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Hospice House of Mercy and the staff at REM, which have given such loving care to Eugene.
