Esther Helen Margaret Heitshusen passed away Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, with her loving family by her side, at Highland Ridge Care Center in Williamsburg at the age of 86 years.
Esther was born Jan. 28, 1928, in What Cheer, Iowa, the daughter of William and Renata (Scharman) Schreiber. As a young girl, being the daughter of a pastor, she lived in numerous communities growing up. She graduated from Delhi High School. Esther was united in marriage to Walter Herman Heitshusen on April 11, 1948, at Grand Center Lutheran Church near Iowa Falls. Together the couple lived and farmed near Williamsburg until moving to town in 1987.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling. Esther was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid and LWML.
She is survived by her five children, Dale (Karol) Heitshusen of Plano, Texas, Donna (Phill) Hardin of Frisco, Texas, Carol (Ken) Maca of Staplehurst, Neb., James (Deb) Heitshusen of South Amana and Gary (Amy) Heitshusen of Sharpsburg, Ga.; 12 grandchildren, Erin Lange, Audra, Brian and Christie Har- din, Andy and Jermey Maca, Breanne, Amanda and Josh Heitshusen, Eric, Matthew and Andrew Heitshusen; eight great-grandchildren; and a very special companion, Ray Folkmann of Williamsburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; and five siblings.
Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Williamsburg. Pastor Richard Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, Feb. 25, at Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg from 4 to 7 p.m.
Memorials are for Lutheran Interparish School, Lutheran Bible Translators or Concordia Seminary.
