Esther Cerveny, 91, passed away Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at St. Luke's Hos-pital in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be Monday, March 3, at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel from 4 to 7 pm. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, at Hus Memorial Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Mel Ramos presiding. Burial will be a private family service.
Esther was born Sept. 30, 1922, to Frank and Della (Chess) Plucar in Blairstown, Iowa. She worked for Rockwell Collins as a photo etch operator until her retirement in 1981.
On Aug. 12, 1941, Esther married Joseph Cerveny in Cedar Rapids.
Esther was a member of the Fairest Chapter of the Eastern Star of Fairfax, where she served as a past matron. She served as a church deacon and faithful member of Hus Memorial Presbyterian Church, a member of Linn County Farm Bureau Women and she volunteered at the Linn County Food Bank and St. Luke's Hospital.
Esther is survived by her daughter, Joanne (George) Chadima, and her son, Dale (Gail) Cerveny; grandchildren, Dan (Jodie) Chadima, Darrick (Michelle) Chadima and Tamara (Geoffrey) Maddaford; great-grandchildren, Miriam, Arik, John, Samuel, Titus, Calvin, Sophia, Sarah, Emma and Miles; and her sister, Irene Bontty.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Joseph.
