Escher, Ronald M.
Ronald M. Escher, 73, of Newhall, died Tuesday June 26, 2012, with his loving family around him. Funeral Mass: 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Jude Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Mark Reasonor. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, Cedar Rapids, where a rosary will begin at 4 p.m.
Survivors include Shirley A. Escher of Cedar Rapids; his children, Pam R. Shultz of Cedar Rapids, Vern E. Escher of Ely and Ronda S. Harnish of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Shirley Whisler of Washington, Iowa; his grandchildren, Matthew, Aaron, Curtis, Amy, Jacob, Brian and Brent; and a special friend, Janet Lintz of Newhall.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a great-grandson, Ryder Harnish.
Ronald was born Feb. 2, 1939, in Washington County, the son of Vern and Lucille (Beenblossom) Escher. Ronald was employed at Goss in Cedar Rapids for 35 plus years until its' closing. He was very proud to work there. It was his second family and his dedication to Goss was endless. He was known to them as Mr. Big and was quite the jokester.
Ronald enjoyed motorcycle riding and was a collector of fine things. He enjoyed spending time with his family and activities with his grandchildren.
He served in the Army during peacetime and was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.
