Erwin W. Lowe, 89, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at the Anamosa Care Center following an extended illness. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26, at Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, with military honors
accorded at the conclusion of the service. The Rev. Dennis Lowe will officiate at the service. Friends may call from 2 until 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Wilcox Cemetery, Viola.

Surviving are his wife, Betty; four children, Karen (Gary) Sievers, Wyoming, Sharon (Dale) Butterfield, Vinton, Tamara (Tim) Diesburg, Anamosa, and Douglas (Jennifer) Lowe, Grimes; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
Erwin W. Lowe was born Feb. 20, 1925, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., the son of Clyde and Velma Ketchum Lowe. He graduated from the Anamosa Community Schools in 1946 following his return from World War II, where he served in the United States Army. Erwin married Betty Jean Lange on Sept. 21, 1947, in Cedar Rapids.
Erwin worked at Reliance Shirt Factory in Anamosa and then at Custis Service Station. Erwin was employed at Iowa Prison Industries, where he was the shop supervisor. He started the custom wood shop at Prison Industries. Erwin retired in 1987.
Erwin was active in the Jones County Historical Society, Jones County Tourism board, Grant Wood Art Festival board, Stone City Fun Days and the Jones County Building and Zoning board. He also belonged to the AMVETS and American Legion. Erwin was recognized as Citizen of the Year in Anamosa.
