Ermilus, Bedica
We are saddened to announce the death of Bedica Ermilus on May 17, 2012, at the age of nearly 5 months. Bedica was a little girl from Haiti who had successful surgery at the Iowa Children's Hospital in March 2012. While in Iowa, she touched many lives. She died of a sudden illness shortly after returning to her family in Haiti.
She is survived by her mother, Carole Charles, her father, Jean Rood, and her 2-year-old sister, all of St. Medard, Haiti.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 320 E. College St., Iowa City, on Saturday, June 2, at 10:30 a.m., followed by a gathering in the parish hall.
A memorial fund has been established in Bedica's name to support a clean water program in her village. Checks can be made out to Trinity Episcopal Church, with “Bedica” on the comment line.
