Erin Nicole Ruchotzke, age 26 of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Lowden, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Unity Point St. Luke’s Hospital from complications of a rare disease known as PSC which she was diagnosed with at the age of 18. Although it is a chronic and progressive disease, Erin was brave and able to remain active and outgoing without many people knowing she was ill. A visitation will be held at Chapman’s in Clarence from 4-7 PM on Friday, October 18. Erin loved going to the beach and had a special place by the Atlantic Ocean she loved to visit. To honor this, her close family and friends will have a private ceremony later when they have had time to process her sudden death.
The daughter of Terry and Becky (Stewart) Ruchotzke, she was born on Mother’s Day, May 10, 1998 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
She is survived by her parents Terry and Becky of Tipton; brothers Evan of Coralville and Levi (Molly) of Iowa City; her beloved significant other Dalton Dudley of Cedar Rapids; her maternal grandfather Bobby Stewart of Bettendorf; grandmother Jeanette Stewart of Tipton; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Wilfred and Marlene Ruchotzke of Oxford Junction.
Erin was diagnosed with her disease after starting at the University of Iowa and went on to receive her Pharmacy Technician degree from Kirkwood Community College. She touched many people’s lives through the service industry over the years.
She will be remembered for her kindness and genuine spirit and loved her family and friends dearly. Erin had many passions including her rescue dogs (Stella and Finley), plants, and arts and crafts which included jewelry making, color and make-up. She loved helping people and making others laugh. Erin was a typical Taurus being loyal, hardworking, and stubborn.
