Erie, Glen Nordeen
Glen Nordeen Erie, 82, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Per Glen's wishes his body has been cremated. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 13, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Cedar Memorial's certified celebrant, Julie Freese, will officiate.
Glen was born Jan. 10, 1929, in Mower County, Minn., the son of George and Genora (Olson) Erie. He married Edna Blade on Oct. 24, 1948, in Northwood, Iowa. Glen was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked for Wilson's in Cedar Rapids, retiring after 31 years of employment. After his so-called retirement Glen would provide transportation for the customers of Edna's Beauty Shop located in their home in Mount Vernon.
Glen was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed remodeling his home, cars, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 62 years, Edna; four daughters, Glenda (Mike Knapp) Masek of Cedar Rapids, Janice Svejda of Hiawatha, Connie (Glen) Sterling of Hulett, Wyo., and Sandy (Steve) Gollobit of Mount Vernon; and his 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Genora Erie; and beloved son, Garry Nordeen.
