Eric A. Tammes, 56, of Wellman, formerly of Iowa City, died Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, at his home. Private family gathering time is being planned for a later date.

Eric was born May 11, 1958, in Iowa City, the son of Dr. Arnold and Beth (Petsel) Tammes. Born with cerebral palsy, he spent his lifetime overcoming obstacles and attitudes with his intelligence, personality, wit and humor. He was an avid reader of world history, Shakespeare, comics and humor. Eric played the electric guitar, enhanced his career with numerous computer courses and had a soft spot for the occasional cat! information systems
technician II.
His family includes his father and stepmother, Dr. Arnold and Sally Tammes; aunts, Diane Hertel, Dona Petsel, Mary Petsel and Grace Ann Petsel; cousins, Kim, Joey, Randy, Teri, Deb, Jill, Dave, Lori, Cheryl, Mona and JoJo; and other family.
He was preceded in death by his mother; brother Richard at the age of 6; a cousin, Joy; and other family members.
