Erdahl, Catherine Joy
Catherine Joy Erdahl, 66, of 2222 First Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully in the presence of her brother and sister-in-law on Friday Jan. 29, 2010 at St. Lukes Hospital after a short illness. Private family memorial services will be held Saturday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Inurnment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her brother, Clemens (Roxanne) Erdahl of rural Solon. She is also survived by one niece, Lillian (Luis) Erdahl of Hershey, Pa.; three nephews, Colbin (Jen) Erdahl of Iowa City, and Cory and Chase Haldeman both of Telluride, Colo.; a grandnephew, Clark Erdahl of Iowa City; and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, Christopher Colbin Erdahl.
Catherine was born on May 31, 1943, in Santa Monica, Calif., the daughter of Clemens and Mary Lou Crozier Erdahl Sr. She grew up in Scarsdale, N.Y. and graduated from Scarsdale High School in 1961. She received a bachelor's degree from Wellesley College in 1965. After graduation she took courses and worked at Harvard University. Later she received her master's degree from Columbia University with highest honors. She worked as an audiovisual consultant and executive assistant for Stone & Webster Engineering.
Catherine had a deep love of animals, especially her two beloved cats, Thunder and Lighting. Throughout her life time she volunteered at various shelters.
Memorial contributions may be given to (a shelter for special-needs cats) in Catherine's name.
