Epperson, Kathleen A.

Kathleen A. Epperson, 76, of Marion, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a lingering illness. Services: 10 a.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, Cedar Rapids, where friends may call today from 2 to 5 p.m. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. The Rev. Thomas Osterkamp from Good News Baptist Church will officiate.
Survivors include her children, Wendy Sue Jones (Thomas) of Cedar Rapids, Beverly Jean Hunter (Matthew) of Jacksonville, Ala., Wayne Emery Epperson (Susan) of Shellsburg and Linda Kay Moses (Joe) of Ely. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Sandra Wilson and Joyce Houston; and three brothers, James Mettler, Robert Mettler and Douglas Mettler.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Leroy Epperson; her daughter, Arlene Rose Epperson; a brother, Kenneth Mettler; and a son-in-law, Andrew Boots.
Kathleen was born Sept. 11, 1933, in Hopkinton, Iowa, the daughter of Alfred and Naomi Miller Mettler. She married John Leroy Epperson on April 13, 1958, in Center Point. Kathleen was a Day Care provider and later worked at Options of Linn County. She was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church. She enjoyed shopping, nature and spending time with her family.
