Enright, Clara M.
Clara M. Enright, 95, of Elma, died Monday, May 13, 2013, at Colonia Manor in Elma. Memorial Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 20, at Immaculate Conception Church in Elma, with Father Steve Garner celebrating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Elma, with Brian Streich, Bobby Streich, Bradley Streich, Eric Gansen, Peter Gansen, Matthew Gansen, Bryan Enright and John Enright serving as urn bearers. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in Elma, with a rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a scriptural wake service at 6 p.m.
Clara Mary Thompson was born April 13, 1918, to Severt and Mayme (Marik) Thompson on the family farm near Lourdes, Iowa. Clara attended our Lady of Lourdes School at Lourdes and graduated from Immaculate Conception School in 1936. She was employed as a secretary for Peoples Savings Bank for many years until her retirement. Clara was united in marriage to Francis Enright on Nov. 17, 1942, at Immaculate Conception Church in Elma. She was a religious education teacher and shared her faith academically and by example. Clara enjoyed TOPS and was a lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Rosary Society and Immaculate Conception Church.
Clara cared about all those who came and went or stayed in her life. She loved to talk, so even in death she is wishing you a fond farewell.
Clara is survived by her children, Patricia (Lyle) Streich of Kansas City, Mo., Alice (Bill) Gansen of Toddville and Charles (Beth) Enright of Mason City; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Heying of Elma; cousins; nieces and nephews; neighbors and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Severt and Mayme Thompson; her husband, Francis (Nov. 25, 1984); two brothers, Thomas and Leo; sister, Alice; and son, John Russell.
