Engrav, Gregory John and Zachary John
Gregory John Engrav
Gregory John Engrav, 37, and Zachary John Engrav, 5, father and son, died from injuries received in a car accident near Solon Monday, Jan. 30, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Solon. Following the funeral service a time of fellowship and refreshments will be held at the church for their family and friends. Burial will follow this time at Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church.
Gregory John Engrav was born Oct. 5, 1974, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Francis and Carolyn (Mathias) Engrav. He married Amy Redlinger on May 28, 2009, in Maumelle, Ark. For many years Greg worked for American Income Life Insurance Co.
He liked the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Greg loved his family and friends; in fact he was one of those that you would say, “he just never met a stranger.” He was the life of the party, always the jokester, a man who enjoyed life, and those around him enjoyed him.
Greg's family includes his wife, Amy; son, Nate; sisters, Debra O'Connell-Moore (Jeff) of Iowa City and Deanna Engrav (Tom Estrada) of Cedar Rapids; and his parents, Francis and Carolyn Engrav of Cedar Rapids.
Zachary John was born May 11, 2006, in Iowa City, and presently was in kindergarten at Lakeview Elementary School in Solon. Typical of a 5-year-old, he was full of energy, laughter and love! He enjoyed playing his 3DS, wrestling with his dad or playing tickle jail with him, adored his best friend, brother Nate; and loved his dog, Lexi.
Zachary's family includes his mom, Amy; brother, Nate; grandparents, Donna and Gary Redlinger of Solon, Carolyn and Francis Engrav of Cedar Rapids and Mark and Nancy Andrews of Canada; and great-grandparents, Marian and John Redlinger of Solon.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Gregory and Zachary's memory.
