English, Mary Kathryn 'Kay'
Mary Kathryn “Kay” English passed away Dec. 23, 2012, after a long illness.
Kay was born April 26, 1934, to William and Helen (Porter) English in Anamosa, Iowa. Kay attended St. Patrick's Elementary in Anamosa until 1948, going on to Anamosa High School, where she graduated in 1952. She then went on to attend Iowa State Teachers College for one year. Kay worked at Collins Radio starting in 1953 and retired in 1992 from then Rockwell/Collins.
Kay was a dedicated worker, lifelong member of St. Patrick's Church, an avid golfer, loved playing cards, traveling, was a resident advocate at Anamosa Care Center, a member of The American Business Women's Association for a time and loved attending the Rockwell Retiree Luncheons.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, William Sr. and Helen English; and her brother, William “Bill” English Jr.
Surviving Kathryn are her sister, Janice English Mahoney, Manchester, Conn.; sister-in-law, Mamye English, Anamosa; nephews and nieces, William (Luida) English III, Anamosa, Mary English (Don Fritze), Marshfield, Wis., Mike (Ronna) English, Anamosa, Mark (Jordanna) English, Cedar Rapids, Jay Mahoney, Manchester, Conn., and Rob Mahoney, Burlington, Mass. She also had 12 great-nieces and great-nephews; and three great-great-nieces.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 4 at St. Patrick's Church, Anamosa, with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, contributions would be welcomed at Anamosa Care Center Activity Fund, 1209 East Third St., Anamosa, IA 52205; and Jones Regional Medical Center “Beautification Project,” 1795 Hwy 64 E, Anamosa, IA 52205.
