Englert, Robert J. 'Bob'
Robert J. “Bob” Englert, 80, of Lisbon, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Sunday, July 22, 2012, at Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha. Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 26, at Morgan Funeral Home Mount Vernon. Burial will follow at Lisbon Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Bob was born in Iowa City to Raymond C. and Mary J Mattes Englert on Sept. 2, 1931. He graduated from St. Patrick's High School in Iowa City. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict from 1952 to 1954. On Oct. 14, 1954, he married Joyce A. Bohr at St. John's Catholic Church, Lisbon.
Bob was an auto parts salesman for 43 years where he made many friends. There were no jokes that he didn't enjoy telling or listening to. He loved woodworking in his spare time and made many things for his family and friends. He found great pleasure in teasing and joking with his six grandchildren, who were the apples of his eye. Bob would tackle anything that needed fixing around the house and was a pro at giving advice.
He will be fondly remembered by his survivors, his loving wife of 57 years, Joyce; three children and their families, Michael of Cedar Rapids, Eden, Evan and Elissa, Douglas (Kelly) of Colorado, Calvin and Cale; and Tamara of Lisbon, Cullyn; a sister, Suzanne Fountain of North Liberty; and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and brother, William Englert.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Robert's name may be given to Hospice of Mercy or Lisbon American Legion Cyclops Post #109.
