Engelken, Virgil U.
Virgil U. Engelken, 83, of Manchester, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Mass of Resurrection: 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Manchester, by the Rev. John Flaherty. Interment: St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Manchester. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home & Crematory, Manchester, where there will be a 3:30 p.m. Scripture service. Visitation also will be held one hour before mass Wednesday at the church.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret “Margie” Engelken of Manchester; two children, Steven (Helen) Engelken of Dubuque, and Pam (Martin) Boeckenstedt of Hills; two grandsons, Kurt (Becki) Engelken of Florida; and Ted Engelken of Dubuque; one granddaughter, Katie Boeckenstedt of Hills; and two great-granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Karli Engelken of Florida.
Virgil was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheila Engelken; his parents, Frank and Elizabeth Engelken; one brother, Francis Engelken; and one sister, Esther Millard.
