Betty E. Engebritson
Betty E. Engebritson, 77, of Cedar Rapids, went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center after a long illness. Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Inurnment in the Cedar Memorial Park Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Survivors include two daughters, Marcia (Dwight) Martin of Mount Vernon, and Lori (Douglas) Burkhart of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Mark (Jean) of Panama City, Fla., and Larry and his fiancee Belkis Diaz of Cedar Rapids; and two brothers, Ronald Hatfield of Cedar Rapids, and Richard (Patti) Hatfield of Langworthy. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Joshua, Caleb, Joab Upah, Andrew and Candace Wagner, Tiffany Tabares, and Larry and Matthew Engebritson; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister, Barb Willie; and a brother, Rodney Hatfield.
Betty was born on Aug. 22, 1935, in Greeley, the daughter of Robert and Ruth Hansel Hatfield. She married Leo M. Engebritson on March 3, 1956, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Leo passed away in 1999. Betty worked at Square D and retired from there after 31 years of service in 1999.
Betty was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the IBEW Union. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, and was a fan of the character Betty Boop. Betty was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, and grandmother whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
