Emma was born June 3rd, 1926, to Rudolf and Anna (Becicka) Hlavacek. She graduated from McKinley High School in 1944 and remained living in Cedar Rapids.
Emma was a Certified Professional Insurance Woman through the NAIW and retired as a Supervisor from Western Fraternal Life Association. After retirement Emma was a volunteer at St. Lukes, worked at her favorite beauty shops, and helped in the kitchens at Garnet Place. She would frequently share memories with her friends and family about books she was reading, her travels with friends, times fishing at the cabin, ladies bowling leagues, preserving foods with her mother, crocheting projects, a good recipe, gardening tips, bike rides, and trips to the casino.
She was preceded in death by her parents Rudolf and Anna (Becicka) Hlavacek. Siblings Rudy, Frank and Mary. Daughter Sharon Ciemnoczolowski.
Emma is survived by: Granddaughters: Cheryl (Dan) Zahradnik, Katherine (Mark) White, Terri (Chris Gruver) Ciemnoczolowski. Nieces and Nephews: Jean Hlavacek, Donna Benson, Joanne Knopp, Joe Hlavacek, Betty Elijah. Great grandchildren: Taylor, Zach, Gabrielle, Blake, Talia (Calvin), Colin, Adam, Barret, Smith. Great-great grandchildren: Amelia, Savanna.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, from 4pm to 7pm at Brosh Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids.
