Emery, Kathryn Benson
Kathryn Benson Emery of Poway, Calif., died Oct. 19, 2011, at her home following a courageous 15-year battle with cancer. Services were Oct. 29 at Lutheran Church of Incarnation, Poway.
Survivors include her children, Brendan, Gunnar and Joanna; her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Walter Benson, uncle, James (Ruth) Chipokas; and cousins, Mark and Scott Chipokas, all of Cedar Rapids, and Joanna (Alex) Ringsby of Denver, Colo.; and aunt, Carrol (late Dean) Chipokas.
Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, Josh; and her uncle, Dean.
Kathy was a 1973 graduate of Cedar Rapids Washington and the University of Iowa.
Memorials may be made to the Emery Family Trust and sent to JP Morgan Chase Bank, 12380 Poway Rd., Poway, CA 92064 or to a charity of choice.
