Emery Johnson
EMERY JOHNSON Covington Emery E. Johnson, 85, of Bloomington, Ill., passed away at 11:25 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015, at his home. His funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 16, at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Blooming-ton, with the Rev. Peter Weeks officiating. Burial will be in Hudson Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. To express condolences online, please visit www.carmodyflynn.com. Emery was born March 19, 1930, in Covington, Iowa, the son of Frank C. and Inez E. Rasmussen Johnson. He married Elaine I. Schmidt on July 25, 1953, in Williamsburg, Iowa. She survives. He also is survived by a daughter, Geri (Michael) Koch of Bloomington, Ill.; a son, Dennis (Susan) Johnson of Grafton, Wis.; three grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren. Emery was a self-employed entrepreneur most of his life, but his passion from an early age was farming. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and the outdoors, but his family was first and foremost in his life.
