Emerson, Aldene L.
Aldene L. Emerson, 85, of The Meth-Wick Community, formerly of Madison, Wis., died at St. Luke's Hospital on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, from complications caused from a fall while visiting her daughter in Florida. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Paul Wilcox of Lovely Lane United Methodist Church will officiate. Friends may call after 2:30 p.m. on Friday at the Chapel of Memories. Inurnment will follow the services at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Surviving are her daughter, Julie Emerson of Plantation, Fla.; grandson, Justin of Plantation; granddaughter, Marilynn, and great-grandson, Jacob, of Pompano Beach, Fla.; and a sister, Mildred Corbett of Cedar Rapids; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; and sisters, Arlene, Bernice, and Alice.
Aldene was born April 26, 1924, in Milford, the daughter of Elmer and Dora Wray. She graduated from high school in Harlan. She married Richard Emerson on Feb. 17, 1946, in Cedar Rapids. He preceded her in death on May 12, 2005. They were active at Bethany Methodist Church and were active rock hounds during their time in Madison. She served on several committees at Deer Ridge and was a volunteer at St. Luke's Hospital. She was also a member of Lovely Lane United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association or a charity of the donor's choice.
