Elwood 'Woody' Miracle
ELWOOD "WOODY" MIRACLE

Elwood "Woody" Miracle, 80, died peacefully at home Thursday, Aug. 12, 2021.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 16, 2021, at the First Christian Church in Vinton with Pastor Richard Jumper and Jennie Anderson officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at the church on Monday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton.
Elwood "Woody" Miracle was born Sept. 28, 1940, in Middlesboro, Ky., the son of Elvin Miracle and Darcie Arnett. Woody attended the Kentucky School for the Blind in Louisville, Ky., and graduated from Moorehead University with a B.A. in Education. Woody taught for three years in the public school system in Grafton, Ohio, and then at the Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School in Vinton for 30 years. He coached wrestling in Grafton and in Vinton and retired from teaching in 1995.
On May 8, 1962, he was united in marriage to Linda Lemaster in Moorehead, Ky.
Woody was a member of First Christian Church, Vinton. Woody hosted Bible studies in his home, enjoyed playing cards, baseball games (especially his grandson's games) and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Woody is survived by his wife of 59 years, Linda; one son, Rich (Lori) Miracle; one daughter, Marsha Burright; four grandchildren, Kylie, Conner and Kinzzy Miracle and Benjamin Burright; one sister, Geraldine (Odevah) Howard; and several nieces and nephews.
Woody was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
A memorial fund has been established.
