Else O. Krakow, age 84, of Marengo, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Rose Haven Nursing Home. Visitation: 9 to 11 a.m., with a funeral service at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 26, 2024, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo, with Rev. Daniel Krueger officiating. Burial will be at the Marengo Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church or Safe Haven of Iowa County. Kloster Funeral Home is caring for Else and her family.
Else is survived by her husband, Wayne; her children, Lance Olson, Linette Olson-Lacina, Holly Olson-Disterhoft (Duane), Jim Krakow (Bev), and Suzy Roth (Wade); 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and her sister Hildegard Peterson.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter Sheri L. Olson; her sisters, Erna Wickwire and Elisabeth Jayapathy, and two brothers-in-law.
Else O. Radtke was born December 27, 1939, in Wintersdorf, Germany, the daughter of Gustav and Ernestine Ziesman Radtke. She immigrated to the United States in 1951. She graduated from Iowa Valley High School in 1958. Else married Robert Olson in 1959, the couple later divorced. Else was united in marriage to Wayne E. Krakow on June 20, 1987, in Marengo. She worked at Amama Refrigeration from 1969 to 2000, retiring from there after more than 31 years. Else was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo, and the Marengo American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, attending church, getting together with her friends, going out for dinner and dancing, especially the polka. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Else was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all.
