ELOISE HELDRETH
Cedar Rapids
Eloise Heldreth, 84, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017, at the Dennis and Donna Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at First Church of the Nazarene, Cedar Rapids, with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Eloise was born Aug. 13, 1933, in Spencer, W.Va., the daughter of Frank and Blondenia Keplinger. She married Willie Heldreth on Dec. 23, 1951, in Moundsville, W.Va. The family moved to Cedar Rapids in July 1960. Eloise was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
Mom was a faithful follower of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ from her early teenage years. She faithfully served the Lord, singing, preaching, teaching Sunday school and serving as missionary president and choir member. She later served as church custodian.
Her life's work was being a homemaker, raising her children, and then taking care of her grandchildren. Mom sewed our clothes, planted a large garden and canned our food. She showed us all how to trust in the Lord through the good and the bad of life. One of our greatest joys was listening to her pray. She will be missed by her family, church family and all who knew her. What a wonderful mom and friend she was.
Eloise is survived by her children, Mary (Jerry) Potter, Gloria (Gale) Andrews, Rose (Larry) Robertson and Tod Heldreth; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, with a great-granddaughter expected in March; brother, Richard Keplinger; and brother-in-law, Karl (Cassondra) Foxpool.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie; parents; son, Glen Heldreth; and brother, Harold Keplinger.
Memorials may be directed to the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa.
