Eloise “Ellie” Beaty, formerly of Fairfax, died from age-related complications on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at The Gardens of Cedar Rapids. Private family services will be held at Teahen Funeral Home. Burial: Fairfax Cemetery.
Ellie is survived by her children, Cindy (Chuck) Young of Palo and Mike Beaty (special friend Robin Kannenberg) of Marion; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Judy (Richard) Carnes of Searcy, AR; and sons-in-law, John Murphy of Keokuk and Gary Knight of Whittier.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy; daughters, Sandy Knight and Chris Murphy; grandson Matthew Young, siblings Donald (Joann) Belger, Margaret (William) Headley, Norma (Junior) Monahon, Kay (Tom) Carnes and brother-in-law, Dale Beaty.
Eloise May Beaty was born May 5, 1931, in Ottumwa, the daughter of Stephen and Leola (Stater) Belger. She married Billy Beaty on May 28, 1950 in Ottumwa, and together they shared many years of marriage and family life until his death in 2017.
Ellie enjoyed traveling and spent 17 winters in Arizona. She loved sewing, gardening, canning, crafting, mall walking, and was very involved in the Especially for You Race Against Breast Cancer. Above all, she treasured spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Ellie’s family would like to extend a thank-you to The Gardens of Cedar Rapids and UnityPoint Hospice for their wonderful care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Especially for You Race Against Breast Cancer or the Fairfax Fire Department.
