Elmer Shoaff, 81, of Oxford Junction, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at Mayflower Cemetery in Oxford Junction. Friends and family may call on
Saturday, Jan. 10, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Oxford Junction.
Elmer was born Sept. 6, 1933, in Iowa City, Iowa, to parents, John and Amanda (Ruchotzke) Shoaff. He was united in marriage to Rosemary Joslin on June 22, 1955, in Lowden. He worked for Clinton Engines in Maquoketa for 27 years and for Stickels in Anamosa for seven years.
Elmer was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Oxford Junction. He was a Boy Scout leader for Troop 63 in Oxford Junction in his earlier years. He enjoyed woodworking and made a lot of toys for his family.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Rosemary; his children, Jade (Randy) Derynck of Clarence, Debra Shoaff of Clarence, Donna (Jeff) Carroll of Oxford Junction, Jolynne Walter (Larry Elher) of Oxford Junction and Tara (James) Lorenzen of Clinton; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and his sister, LaVon Benischek of Wheatland.
He was preceded in death by his son, Brian "Louie" in 2000; sister, Edna; parents and two great-grandchildren.
