ELMER SCHNEIDER Riverside Elmer V. Schneider, 84, of Riverside, passed away Friday, Nov. 27, 2015, at Atrium Village in Hills. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Riverside. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, with military honors provided by Riverside VFW Post 6414. Following committal services at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at St. Mary's Parish Center. Visitation will be Monday, Nov. 30, from 4 to 8 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Riverside, with a 4 p.m. prayer service. Memorials may be directed to the 4-H organization in memory of Elmer. Sympathy notes may be left for the family at www.lewisfuneral homes.com. The Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Riverside is caring for Elmer's arrangements and his family. Elmer Vernon Schneider was born Sept. 7, 1931, in Riverside, Iowa, the son of Peter and Agnes (Streb) Schneider. On Aug. 26, 1953, Elmer was united in marriage to Vernita Droll at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Riverside. He was a farmer in the Riverside area his entire life. Elmer will be deeply missed by his wife, Vernita of Riverside; his children, John (Carol) Schneider of Lone Tree, Janice (Dennis) Carr of Washington, James (Louella) Schneider of Riverside, Michael Schneider of Riverside, Patrick (Cindy) Schneider of Riverside, Ann (Dennis) Lampe of Riverside, Daniel Schneider of Riverside and Don (Kristen) Schneider of Mount Vernon; 24 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Irene) Schneider Sr. of Iowa City; and one sister, Mary Ellen (Charles) Alberhasky of Iowa City. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter-in-law, Amy Schneider; and two brothers, Melvin (Loretta) Schneider and Maynard (Mary Agnes) Schneider.
