Elmer "Nick" Mixell, 93, of Tipton, passed away Monday, Dec. 20, 2021. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, at Red Oak Church in rural Tipton with Pastor Ron Lashmit officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. A private family burial will take place at Red Oak Cemetery at a later date.
Nick was born Aug. 26, 1928, in Cambria, Wis., to Frederick and Julia (Mueller) Radke, and was later adopted by Harry and Grace (Caldwell) Mixell. He married Ellen Sander on June 16, 1962, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stanwood. She passed away on Nov. 3, 2012.
Nick worked for 38 years for Link Belt as a forklift and shuttle truck driver, then 20 years for Baumgartner Trucking hauling mail. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing pinochle cards, fishing, feeding the birds and trapping (for over 60 years). Nick was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stanwood and was a huge Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers fan. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, including his dog, Pappi.
He is survived by his daughter, Kim (Chad) Gadke of Tipton; son, Frank; and grandchildren, Kyle, Keely and Karlee.
Nick was preceded in death by his parents, wife, infant twin brother, four sisters, three brothers and a grandson.
