Elmer L. Kasey, 79, of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, May 17, 2016.
A memorial gathering will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 20, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, with a Celebration of Life with military rites at 6 p.m. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his daughter, Tona Kasey of Cedar Rapids; son, Scott Kasey of Cedar Rapids; son, Mike Kasey of Charleston, S.C.; grandchildren, Samantha and Sabrina Kasey; sisters, Pauline (Richard) Boots, Judy Gordy and Yvonne Kasey, all of Marion; brothers-in-law, Donald Monroe of Macon, Ga., and Marvin Krehbiel of Marion; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley, in 2009; and two brothers, Arlass and George Kasey, sisters, Maxine Monroe and Janet Krehbiel.
Elmer Lloyd Kasey was born Jan. 24, 1937, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Arlass and Mary (Phillips) Kasey. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars, serving in the U.S. Army. On June 7, 1963, he married Shirley Ann Warnock in Cedar Rapids. Elmer worked for 40 years at Rockwell Collins as a quality engineer until retiring in 1992.
