Elmer Louis Harmel, 87, of Tipton, died Sunday, March 15, 2015, at Cedar Manor Nursing Home, Tipton. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 21, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Tipton, with Pastor Donnita
Moeller officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial, with full military rites, will follow at Tipton Masonic Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established for the Tipton Senior Dining Center and Cedar Manor Foundation.

Elmer was born Feb. 26, 1927, in Cedar County, Iowa, the son of Paul and Emma (Brockmeyer) Harmel. He married Marvell Schnipkkoweit in Tipton. Elmer was a tank wagon driver for many years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and proudly served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Marvell of Tipton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Edwin Harmel.
