Elmer L. Doskocil, 91, of Cedar Rapids, passed away early Saturday, July 18, 2015, at Mercy Hallmar. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church by Father Christopher Podhajsky.
Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 Second St. SE, where a rosary begins at 6:30 p.m.
Elmer is survived by his wife of 67 years, Louise Cejka Doskocil; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Gina Doskocil, Cedar Hill, Texas; grandsons, Brett Doskocil, Plano, Texas, and Ryan Doskocil, Lewisville, Texas; and a sister, Arlene Pospisil, Lisbon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Elsie (Pavlis) Doskocil; brother, Lumir Doskocil, Fairfax; and sister, Gladys Tesar, Springville.
Elmer was born Feb. 27, 1924, in Cedar Rapids, and was a graduate of Roosevelt High School and the Cedar Rapids Business College. He married Louise A. Cejka on July 20, 1948, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.
Elmer was employed at First Trust and Savings Bank for 44 years. After retiring as vice president, he served as a volunteer at Mercy Medical Center for nine years. He loved his family and was a gracious and giving man.
Elmer was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, woodworking and baseball games.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.
