Ellsworth "Ike" Voelkers, 87, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016, at Living Center East.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel Stateroom.
Ike was born Aug. 9, 1929, in Toronto, Iowa, to Orval and Ella (Bentrott) Voelkers. As a young man, Ike enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he served honorably as a corporal. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Henningsen on Sept. 22, 1957, in Wheatland. To this union, four children were born.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy; daughter Nancy (James) Houtz of Cedar Rapids; sons, Kurt (Pam) of Waterford, Wis., and David of North Liberty; and four grandchildren, Nathan and Tyler Houtz and Alexandra and Elliott Voelkers.
Ellsworth was preceded in death by his son, Neal, in 2004.
A memorial in Ellsworth's name has been established.
