Ellison, Franklin 'Pete' Joseph
Franklin “Pete” Joseph Ellison, 82, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Bob Voels of Trinity United Methodist Church will officiate. Friends may call at the chapel after 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Interment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Surviving are his son, Timothy Kevin Ellison; brothers, Richard Ellison and wife Susan of Monticello, and Robert Earl Ellison and wife Edith of Tampa, Fla.; sister, Lori Hall of Monticello; sister-in-laws, Linda Ellison of Macon, Ga., and Lucy Ellison of Oelwein; brothers-in-law, Al Brennaman of Anamosa, and Bob Jensen of Nocona, Texas; as well as several nieces and nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elisabeth; his parents; brothers, Clayton, Carl and Darrell; and sisters, Ruby Angerstein, Leona Brennaman, Betty Wonder, Arlene Jensen and Jean Busching.
Pete was born Dec. 13, 1927, in Mount Vernon, to Ode and Ruth (Snyder) Ellison. He married Elisabeth J. Froman on Oct. 17, 1951, in Nashua; she preceded him in death on June 20, 2010. He served his country honorably in the United States Army following World War II. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and trapshooting.
