Ellis, Susan Kay
Susan Kay Ellis, 58, of Chandler, Ariz., passed away Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011. Family and friends are invited to visit after noon and to attend 1 p.m. funeral services Saturday, both at Valley of the Sun Mortuary, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Rd., Chandler, Ariz.
She was born to Maynard and Dorothy Bauer on Nov. 9, 1953, in Independence, Iowa, and received her B.S. degree from Iowa State University in 1975. Susan married Mark Ellis in 1974, and they lived together across the country before settling in Chandler in 2007.
Susan was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who devoted her life to her family and friends. Her strength, determination, and positive attitude, especially during her 3 1/2-year battle with breast cancer, were an inspiration to her family, friends, doctors and nurses, and other cancer patients.
We will greatly miss the love, support, and courage that she gave to all of us.
Susan is survived by her husband, Mark Ellis; two children, Laura (Brian) Gausden and Ryan Ellis, both of the Phoenix area; her father, Maynard Bauer of Walker; a brother, Edmund (Judy) Bauer of Walker; a sister, Donita Bauer (Jill Thompson) of St. Louis, Mo.; and a grandchild, Jack Gausden.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in Susan's name to the Susan G. Komen For The Cure Foundation, P.O. Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309.
