Ellis, Hugh T. 'Tom'
Hugh T. “Tom” Ellis,80, of 436 Eighth Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Saturday, July 24, 2010, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Services: 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Pastor Al Biere. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial: Oak Hill Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, with military honors.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret “Marge” Ellis; siblings, Donald (Thelma) Ellis of Cedar Rapids, Phyllis (Phil) Kraft of Florida, Mary Jo Patterson of Florida, Jimmy Ellis of Cedar Rapids, and Bobby (Gail) Ellis of Alabama; stepson, Denny (April) Zippe of Tipton; three granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; and special daughter, Sharon (Don) Stewart of Clarence.
Tom worked for Acro, retiring after 15 years. On Oct. 27, 1990, he was united in marriage to Margaret Dicks-Zippe. Together they ran the E Avenue Tap, until the flood of 2008.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
