Ellingson, Alice
Alice Ellingson, 87, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, May 13, 2010, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, May 17, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, with a private family service to follow. Burial: Watkins Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Adkins and Jonanella Martin; six grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Edwin Matson, Virginia Seifert, Rosellen Seaton and Betty Brown; and a special friend, Evelyn Frame.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; a sister, Mary Matson; and two stepsons.
Alice was born Jan. 13, 1923, the daughter of Edwin and Ida (Boddicker) Matson, in Newhall. She married William Ellingson Jr. on May 5, 1964, in Oskaloosa. He died in 2000. Alice graduated from Cosmotology School in 1974 at the age of 50.
Memorials may be directed to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha in memory of Alice.
