Ellen Marie Todd, 90, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Friday July 8, 2022. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 29, 2022, at 10 a.m. and funeral service at 11 a.m. in the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Inurnment will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery - Chapel Garden.
Ellen was born on Sept. 8, 1931, in Cedar Rapids Iowa, to Jay and Minnie (Holubar) Burke. She graduated from Franklin High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Ellen married her high school sweetheart, Max D. Todd. on Oct. 23, 1949, in Vinton, Iowa; together they celebrated 72 years of marriage.
Ellen retired from Rockwell Collins and member of Four Score. Her life revolved around family. She was a creative person, seamstress, fantastic cook and loved to entertain. She loved gardening and maintained a greenhouse full of hundreds of orchid plants as a hobby. She was a loving wife, mother, and (great) grandmother we called Gigi.
Ellen and her husband traveled the states visiting family and friends for many years. They traveled to Japan, Mexico, Canada, and Nova Scotia and enjoyed taking cruises. After retirement, they traveled the country by motorhome.
Ellen survived by daughter, Diane Todd of Sugar Land, Texas; son, Michael and wife Diane (Sweeney) Todd of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; granddaughter, Laurie (Lawrence) and husband Dan Laury of Sugar Land, Texas; grandson, Matthew and wife Sarah (Leverington) Todd of Kenosha, Wis.; granddaughter, Erica Sweeney of Iowa City, Iowa; and great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Dylan Pyle and Patrick and Lillian Laury of Sugar Land, Texas. Her surviving siblings are Frances (Herrmann) Potterville, Calif., and Raymond of Swisher, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Max, who died on Jan. 31, 2022; and her grandson, David Lawrence.
